Strategic Environmental Assessment for proposed Green Hydrogen Project in the Northern Cape, South Africa
South Africa has ambitions to become a player in the globally emerging green hydrogen market, and a substantial programme of greenfield infrastructure has been proposed in the Northern Cape. A Strategic Environmental Assessment was undertaken to develop an integrated decision-making framework to guide the planning of the proposed infrastructure within the Namakwa region in a sustainable manner.
Anchor provided the marine ecology specialist report. Works included a complete description of the receiving environment in terms of oceanography, climate and marine ecology. A comprehensive field survey and baseline assessment was undertaken throughout the region to augment the environmental description, identify map and verify environmental sensitivities and inform high level senstivity analyses to guide future planning.
